How do I choose a water injection nozzle?
In order to inject pre-turbo with out compressor damage you need a high quality low volume nozzle and high enough pressure to get the water as finely misted as possible, and the smaller nozzle which allows for smaller/finer water droplets. We recommend you mount the nozzle as close to the compresser as possible.
Can you run a diesel on methanol?
Is Methanol Safe for my Diesel? Methanol makes an excellent adjunct fuel. Because it has a cetane number of 4CN, it makes safe power without spiking cylinder pressures.
Do you need a tune for methanol injection?
It’s fine. The purpose of re-tuning is to take advantage of the ability to advance timing more with the meth. Otherwise it’s basically just another level of safety since it’s cooling the intake charge.
Does Water/Methanol injection increase horsepower?
Naturally aspirated/high compression engines: Water/Methanol injection allows the use of pump fuel in all but the most extreme situations which effects tremendous cost savings as well as horsepower increases due to air density increase and higher timing advance potential.
Where do you inject methanol?
This allows for greater distribution into to each cylinder, creating the coolest possible air charge. The most common location to place a nozzle is three to six inches from the throttle body. The nozzle should spray directly into the throttle body and should never be placed right before a tight-radius bend.
How long does a tank of water methanol last?
A larger tank should be considered if boost pressures of over nine psi are utilized in road racing, where a two-quart tank will run dry in as few as five to six two-mile laps. Under normal street use in a 400hp car, a two-quart tank will usually last about 450 miles.
Does water/methanol injection work naturally aspirated?
This technology works well on both normally aspirated and boosted engines. Injecting the water/Methanol fluid into a carbureted engine, simply requires spraying the fluid mist into the airstream, upstream of the carburetor(s), or via an injection plate between the carb(s) and the intake.
How many HP does methanol add?
The main function of water/methanol injection is to prevent detonation, but that’s not to say it can’t also increase horsepower/torque output by 10 to 15 percent with proper tuning.
How much HP can methanol injection add?
Straight methanol is the overall injections winner given its overall best power gains of 42 rwhp, (7.3-percent power gain on 574 rwhp).
