Can you mail a ham?
Meats and meat products are mailable in domestic mail only when they conform to regulations of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Packaging must be strong and securely sealed as required in DMM 601.1-7.
How do I ship a ham?
Perishable foods must be packaged properly for transport, and your Easter ham is no different. Be sure the retailer uses thick, food grade cardboard boxes and, crucially, dry ice to keep the ham cold as long as possible. Dry ice will preserve your item for as long as five days.

You cannot ship meats using regular ice! The package must also be properly labeled as “Perishable” and “Keep Frozen”.
Can you ship cooked meat?
Gel packs are a good choice for short driving trips, most airline travel, and shipping by UPS or Federal Express. Gel packs are a sealed unit, so there’s no need to worry about liquid leaking from the insulated container or the meat becoming waterlogged.
