What’s involved in AM2 test?
The assessment is in four sections: Section A and A1 – Risk Assessment and Safe Isolation; Composite Installation. Section B – Inspection and Testing of the completed composite installation. Section C – Safe Isolation (C1) and Fault Diagnosis and Correction (C2)
What is electrical AM2?
AM2 assessment is the final unit of the electrical installation qualification. It ensures all qualifying installation electricians achieve a single standard that has been agreed by the employers in the industry as meeting their expectations from newly qualified personnel.
Do I need AM2 to be an electrician?
The AM2 is aimed at “new entrants” to the industry such as an apprentice or trainee. If you are an experienced electrician (practicing operative) you DO NOT need to take your AM2.
How long does it take to get AM2 results?
How long does it take for my results to be sent to me? Once you complete your assessment, you should be notified of the result within 5 working days. If you have not received an email by this time, you must contact your assessment centre in the first instance to check they have the correct email address for you.
How long is the AM2 exam?
AM2 is a practical assessment with a short online component, taken over 16.5 hours (2.5 days). During this time candidates undertake a series of timed tasks in specially equipped booths containing typical electrical installation wiring systems.
What is AM2 and AM2S?
AM2 is the assessment of competence for the apprenticeship framework and Mature Candidate Assessment. AM2S is not available as a stand-alone assessment outside of the apprenticeship. It will only be recognised by the JIB for an ECS card when taken as part of an industry apprenticeship.
Is AM2 part of NVQ Level 3?
If you have already completed your Level 3 2365 Diploma and are looking to gain grading from the JIB as a fully qualified electrician, then you will need to complete this Level 3 NVQ assessment. The AM2 test is not included in the NVQ course.
Can I do the AM2 without NVQ?
Most of these have been working in the industry for years and have been misinformed that they need their AM2 along with their NVQ to gain JIB grading. This means that you will not be able to gain your NVQ 3 Electrical without also having to undertake your AM2, regardless of experience and qualifications.
How long does the AM2 certificate last?
Is there time limit or cut-off date for completing failed sections? All sections of an assessment must be passed within a 2 year period. If the whole assessment has not been successfully completed, any individual sections that were passed will expire after 2 years of the first sitting.
What happens after you pass your AM2?
If you are completing the Experienced Worker Assessment and have already passed the AM2, you will only have to undertake a supplementary AM2E unit rather than the whole assessment. The unit to be completed depends on when the original AM2 was passed: Before April 2010: Testing and Safe Isolation supplementary unit.
