What is FORSHEDA seal?

Posted on 2020-01-11 by Muna Meyer

What is FORSHEDA seal?

Since 1974, Forsheda has been making a wide range of seals for a diverse array of clients. Composed entirely of rubber, the v-ring seal is remarkably durable. Its high elasticity allows it to be used in a great many applications. It can be stretched or twisted and still work optimally.

What is the function of V-ring?

A V-Ring is a solid rubber seal used on shafts to prevent dirt, moisture, and other unwanted material from entering an oil seal, housing, or any other desired area while simultaneously keeping lubricants in.

What is the oil seal?

Oil seals are used to protect shafts and bearings from ingress of dirt and foreign matter and egress of oil or grease. An oil seal generally consists of an outer circular metal part and an inner flexible member that does the actual sealing and is bonded to the metal part by chemical adhesive agents.

What is a lip seal?

The radial lip seals are widely used in wet environments like ships, water pumps and tidal turbines. The lip seals keep the oil or grease lubricant inside the application and prevents the ingress of water and dirt.

Which way do V seals go in?

Satisfactory results are often obtained by using the system fluid as the lubricant. When installing vee packing, make sure that they are facing in the direction of the media being sealed, whether liquid or air. This ensures that the system pressure will energize the seal lips and set them for proper sealing.

How does AV seal work?

The V-seal’s self-adjusting lip rotates with the shaft against the counter face bearing housing or shaft collar to produce the dynamic sealing. The rotating peripheral shaft speed causes contaminants to be blocked while dirt and water are not able to attach to the flexible sealing lip.

What is difference between mechanical seal and oil seal?

Oil or Rotary shaft seals are vulnerable to extreme temperatures, which can cause them to wear out faster if they are used in very high or low temperatures. A mechanical seal features stationary elements, rotating components and a spring. Mechanical seals are used in applications with a rotating shaft.

Is olive oil a sealing oil?

Some examples of moisturizing oil are coconut, avocado, and olive oils. Sealing oils don’t penetrate your hair shaft but help seal in the moisture of your hair. Some examples of sealing oils are Black castor, grape-seed, and jojoba oils.

When installing a lip type seal the lip must?

The sealing lip should face the lubricant that requires sealing. The second lip on a double lip oil seal is intended as a dust lip. The seal must be installed at a 90°, or perpendicularly, to both the shaft and housing bore.

How do I know my oil seal size?

Look to the left or the right of the size that matches your shaft. Staying in the same row, the product number for the oil seal will be listed in the column that is titled “Product Number.”
